Nightwood is a Brooklyn based interior design company that is on the forefront of establishing a new trend in decorating.  Focused on refurbishing vintage pieces to best meet the needs of their upscale clients, the designers at this innovative business live by one simple motto:  “anything can be fixed and repaired.”  The resulting pieces that are created offer a one-of-a-kind product to their customers.  Design giant IKEA brought their popular line of home furnishings to the masses at an affordable cost.  Nightwood is nothing like them — buyers can be assured that their purchase is unique…a true luxury item.

I believe that this business is incredibly relevant to our course of study because they are able to create a beautiful piece of functional art out of something that is old and could be considered irrelevant.  Isn’t that what I do every time that I pick up a piece of music by Beethoven?  Nightwood was recently profiled in The New York Times.  Enjoy!
